frequently asked questions

What is dry salt therapy?

Halotherapy is a holistic, drug-free, natural therapy. 99.99% Pure-grade sodium chloride is heated and ground into tiny micro-particles by a machine called a halogenerator. These dry aerosol micro-particles of salt are dispersed into the air of the salt vault during a session. As you relax in the salt vault and inhale the micro-particles, the salt will reach the deepest area of the lungs, as well as penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin. Halotherapy is a complimentary wellness tool to improve respiratory issues, skin conditions, support detoxification, athletic performance, and much more.

Why does dry salt therapy work?

Dry salt has three main beneficial characteristics: it is super absorbent, anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial. Because the microscopic salt particles get deep into the respiratory system as well as into the skin, the dry salt absorbs all the excess mucous, allergens, and foreign elements in the respiratory system, opens constricted airways, and kills the spreading of bacteria and viruses.

Who benefits from dry salt therapy treatments?

Salt therapy benefits people of all ages and is great for overall wellness, respiratory concerns, and skin conditions. Salt therapy has provided benefits for those with the following conditions:

What should I expect during a session?

Our salt vault provides a relaxing environment with ambient lighting and music where you can nap, meditate, etc. Since the room is kept at a cool 71 degrees, we offer blankets, or you may choose to bring your own. Food and drinks are not allowed in a session; water will be provided afterwards. We do not recommend taking phones or electronics into the salt vault. Lockers and cubbies are available to store your belongings.

What should I wear to the salt session?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing. If you have a skin condition, you may choose to wear short sleeves and shorts to expose skin for treatment. Swim suits are not allowed in public sessions; you may schedule a private session for more skin exposure. Shoes or socks are required. No corrosive jewelry or electronics are allowed in the salt vault. Dry salt may leave a light dusting on clothes that can be easily brushed off.

What will happen if I arrive late to my session?

After a session has begun, we are unable to allow entrance into the salt vault, and you will need to reschedule your appointment. Please arrive 15 minutes early to prepare for your session and store your belongings.

How safe is dry salt therapy?

Salt therapy is a 100% natural, drug free, non-invasive wellness ritual with no side effects or potential health hazards. Some people might experience a mild tickle in the throat or an increase in cough, sneezing, or runny nose. This is an indication the salt therapy is working.

Is dry salt therapy safe for children?

Yes. Salt therapy is not only safe for children; it is a highly recommended natural treatment. The treatment is suitable for children of any age (as young as 3 months old). Children, in fact, respond to the therapy even more quickly than adults do. During a salt therapy session children play with toys, read books, and interact with other children.

In which cases should dry salt therapy be avoided?

Halotherapy is not recommended for individuals with the following conditions:

  • Infections accompanied by fever within the last 24 hours

What type of salt is used?

Only pure-grade 99.99% sodium chloride is used in our halogenerators. Salt therapy will not affect your sodium level. Our salt is not processed with any additives or caking agents like table salt, and it does not enter your digestive system.

How many dry salt therapy sessions do I need?

As with many wellness and health regimens, everyone responds differently. Some symptoms may improve in just one session. More chronic symptoms may require a series of weekly sessions for optimal results.

During allergy and cold seasons, some people come 2-3 times a week for a 3-4 weeks as a preventative measure to strengthen the immune system against colds, cough, allergies, and sinusitis.

Those who come for general wellness, stress relief, and relaxation simply come as often as they like.

For many conditions, after a series of sessions, symptoms subside and relief can last for several months before another session is needed. As always, consult your physician regarding dry salt therapy as a complimentary wellness tool.

Should I stop taking my medication?

No, you should not stop taking your medication. Dry salt therapy should be used as a complimentary treatment with your medication. Many people find they may be able to reduce use of medications, however this should only be done with your doctor’s approval.
